Christmas in Thailand- A Time for Giving

Thai Girl Named Doy

I wrote yesterday that Christmas for me here in Thailand will be very different to that experienced by the majority of my countrymen back in the UK. However it does not mean that I do not value the true meaning and traditions associated with this festive time.

For me, one such value of Christmas is taking time to reflect on those less fortunate than oneself. I was therefore particularly pleased to read a post on Thailand Land of Smiles this morning. In "A Season for Giving Back to Thailand-A Challenge to You," the author Talen highlights a particularly worthwhile charity here in Thailand that offers an education to those less fortunate Thai kids who would otherwise miss out.

The SET Foundation is the charity that Talen and another Thailand blogger, Catherine, blog about. You can find Catherine's post, "The SET Foundation, a Season for Giving Back," here.

So if you have a minute to spare as you prepare for Christmas please visit the links in this post. Who knows maybe you can do a little something to make a huge difference in someones life.

I read Catherine's post earlier today and was very touched and inspired. I have something very special planned for 2010 that will hopefully allow all of us that love the Kingdom to give back to Thailand.

That's awesome Mike. Thanks for helping to get the word out there. Hopefully we can get many of the Thai blogging community to pitch in.

While you are having a different kind of Christmas at Thailand, people back in London is betting on whether snow will fall during Christmas day.
