Thai Lottery Predictions-Real X Thailand

Thai lottery predictions are big business in Thailand and if you can come up with a way of predicting the winning numbers for the next draw then you will always find plenty of takers.

As I have said before Thais are quite superstitious and also love to gamble, two factors, which combine to produce some rather interesting ways of predicting the winning numbers for the next Thai lottery draw.

Now I am not a big fan of Thai TV although I do use it to help with my language learning, usually by watching the news in Thai. However thanks to MTF I have become hooked on a show produced by Thai Reality.com called Real X. This is reality TV Thai style and includes, investigations, exposures and lots of weird clips that are sometimes beyond my comprehension. The programme goes out on Thursday and Friday nights on Channel 7.

OK so whats the link between Real X and the Thai Lottery? Well last night there was an investigation that involved a woman's murder at Ao Noi which is about 10km from where I live here in Thailand. Very sad, since the murderer has not been caught and the decomposing body of the woman was found in a large concrete water storage jar. The only reason it was found was because of the smell! Needless to say there were pictures of the corpse and lots of policemen posing for the camera in true Thai style.

Anyway back to the Thai lottery, the large concrete water jar had been partly destroyed to remove the corpse leaving a pile of concrete and about half the jar intact. Some of the locals had built a sort of shrine around the remains of water jar and could be seen praying and burning candles. As the camera panned out yet some more individuals were seen to be rubbing the remains of the water container. Now my Thai is limited but I knew enough to realise that the guys rubbing the jar were trying to get numbers to appear in the concrete, predictions for the next Thai Lottery draw! I can only assume that they hoped the deceased might send them a sign.

You can watch clips from the various shows here. The clips are in Thai but it will give you an idea about the show. Recommended viewing if you are in Thailand, but not for those of a weak constitution!

Unfortunately the TV didn't show any numbers appearing so if you want some Thai Lottery predictions for the next draw you will either have to ask my Tokay gecko or a certain frog in Issan.
